FG Resumes Exploration In Lake Chad Basin

Borno State will soon officially become an oil producing state, as the Federal Government says it has finally resumed exploratory activities in the Lake Chad Basin.

This followed several months of exploration in the state last year, after which the Federal Government disclosed that crude oil had been discovered.
The Chief Operating Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Saidu Mohammed, on Monday paid a visit to the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima in Maiduguri to brief him on the corporation’s plans.

He said the end of insurgency and return of peace to the state is responsible for NNPC’s mobilisation to site.
