Martin Keown: Selling Sanchez, Ozil would be ‘the right decision’

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has told BBC Radio 5 Live that the club would be right to sell star duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez if they don’t sign new contracts.
The futures of Ozil and Sanchez is now the big question mark facing Arsenal after manager Arsene Wenger signed a two-year contract on Wednesday.
Keown says Ozil and Sanchez have been “overindulged” this past season and that Arsenal must show that no player is bigger than the club.
“I believe that the manager has to make some really tough decisions,” Keown said. “Now that he’s in position, Sanchez’s contract needs to be 100 percent secured.
“Does that happen? Does Ozil leave? I’m sure both players want to go elsewhere because they want to be in the Champions League, they want to win the Premier League and maybe they don’t feel it can be done there.
“But the club is much bigger than two individuals and if it is that club has to say cheerio to those two players and he looks for new ones, then that for me is the right decision.
“They have been overindulged at times this season and they let Arsenal down in the period when they lost twice to Bayern Munich. They conceded 10 goals to Bayern Munich and that is really the level of the problem.”
Sanchez finished the season with 30 goals and 15 assists and helped the team win the FA Cup final by scoring the opening goal against Chelsea. Ozil had a more inconsistent campaign but still finished with 12 goals and 13 assists.

Wenger has said he is confident both players want to stay at the club, and has ruled out selling either — saying he would rather keep them for the final year of their current contracts and risk them leaving on a free transfer next season.
