The Nigeria Police force stated it had arrested 26 suspects for kidnapping, armed robbery, rape and illegal ownership of prohibited fireplace fingers in Lambata region of Niger.

The pressure Spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this even as addressing newshounds in Abuja on Tuesday at the arrest.

He named the suspects as Isa Umar, Nuhu Yahaya, Sanda Saleh, Ali Ali, Okechukwu Atama, Mohammed Aliyu, Haruna Adamu, Adamu Bello, Abubakar Iliyasu, Safiyu Mohammed among others.

Moshood said that the suspects, who operated at special regions were arrested between August 8 and 22 in Niger.

He said that objects recovered from them encompass: four Ak 47 rifles, cutlasses, mobile phones, wrist watches, navy camouflage and personal results of their victims.

Moshood said that investigations had been on to discover the source of the military uniforms.

The spokesman stated some of the suspects additionally specialized in raping their victims.

He stated the suspects had made confessional statements to the police on the various roles each of them performed inside the crime.

Moshood stated that the arrest followed easy-up operations by the “Operation Absolute Sanity” in Niger, Kaduna, Benue and Kogi.

The operations are to supplement and augment the on-going Joint Police/navy operations on ground earlier than now.
