Telecom masts don’t cause cancer, other diseases – NCC

The Nigerian Communications commission has allayed fears that telecommunication masts cause cancer and different health problems.

NCC Zonal Controller, South-East, Mrs. Emilia Nwokoro, who spoke at some stage in a client communique forum organised by the fee in Enugu, said several research had been conducted to examine whether or not telecommunication masts pose fitness risks.

Nwokoro defined that the researches did no longer provide any proof that the telecommunication infrastructure was harmful to human beings.

“a number of research have investigated the consequences of radiofrequency fields on mind electric interest, cognitive function, sleep, coronary heart fee and blood pressure in volunteers.

“so far, research does no longer advocate any steady evidence of destructive fitness effects from publicity to radiofrequency fields at ranges below those that motive tissue heating.

“in step with the placement of worldwide Telecommunications Union supported via global Council on Non-ionizing, Radiation protection and the arena health organization, NCC has maintained that as at these days, there's no conclusive evidence to expose correlation among the electromagnetic fields from telecommunications masts and fitness chance to people round these infrastructure,” she said.

Nwokoro confident that NCC could hold to teach the general public on issues regarding public fitness and telecommunication offerings.
